As part of monitoring, Transport MEC Xolile Nqatha conducted an oversight visit on Monday to the Hamburg road construction which is currently underway in the Ngqushwa Local Municipality. The stretch of road starts from R72 down to Hamburg Beach – it is about 13.5km long.
The route has got a strong ability to unlock business opportunities and change the economic landscape of the area for the better.
For now, a 4km stretch has been completed and the teams are on-site to complete the remaining stretch.
Hours later, the MEC proceeded to Debe Nek in the Raymond Mhlaba Municipality to do an assessment of a stretch of road from Debe Nek down to the last village which is Ngcabasa. The road is critical as it connects to countless primary schools, about 10 high schools and 6 clinics.
A team of departmental engineers are busy analysing the assessment to come up with possible solutions by this Thursday, which will be tabled to the municipality.
