Roads Agency Limpopo (RAL) has the mandate to plan, build, maintain, control and manage Limpopo’s provincial road infrastructure totalling over 20 000km. Whilst efforts are made to build more tarred roads, the Agency seeks to ensure that the existing road infrastructure assets are maintained.
RAL has recently completed the 5km second phase rehabilitation of Road D688 – Bylsteel under the Polokwane Local Municipality, within Capricorn District. This road passes through Bylsteel Farm towards Tawni Safari Lodge in Polokwane and connects to several other lodges and farms around the area.
Road maintenance is key to ensuring efficient road infrastructure that in turn supports the province’s economic growth.
The rehabilitation of the road involved cleaning drainage structures, clearing and grubbing, and recycling of the top layer, amongst others. The quality road infrastructure implemented enables agricultural and tourism activities adjacent to the road to operate smoothly.
