A short while ago IPSS Medical Rescue alongside IPSS Search and Rescue responded to reports of a pedestrian that had been hit by a car on the M4 near Desainager.
On arrival, it was established that a 38-year-old female was hit by a vehicle whilst working on the M4 roadworks.
The patient was found down an embankment approximately 20 meters from where the impact had occurred and was in critical condition.
The patient was stabilised on the scene by IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedics before being carried up the embankment by IPSS Search and Rescue members with help from members of CERT.
The patient was airlifted by the AMS helicopter to an appropriate facility for further care.
The vehicle involved in the incident fled the scene.
BOLO: White Hyundai SUV driven by a white female on the M4 heading to Durban. Involved in hit and run near Desainager on the M4 at around 15h15.
The vehicle will have significant damage to the front left side.
