Ntuzuma, Nhlungwana Bridge: As the festive season is right upon us, we have reopened Hlungwana Bridge in Ntuzuma.
We thank Inkosi Mqoqi Ngcobo and local councillors for being the link between the department and local communities.
The re-opening of the bridge in Ward 54 will link Inanda and Ntuzuma/Nhlungwana areas. This strategic road serves as a link to Bridge City Mall, main road M25, and other essential business activities.
The April 2022 floods washed away a large part of this road on the section over the Piesang River. This is where teacher Noxolo Khumalo died when her car drove over the damaged bridge.
We do know that nothing enough will console the family following this tragic loss no man can heal.
This is the most difficult period for the Khumalo family as most families spend time with their loved ones this festive season.
May God grant them strength.
Lastly, we wish to indicate that we have managed to find land to build houses for the families that are living in this floodline area. The plan is to move all families and ensure that they live comfortably even when there are floods.
