Residents and businesses are informed of water supply restrictions due to the shutdown of Pipeline 53 which will be in effect until 22 February 2025. The shutdown, which was implemented from 26 January, is necessary in order to relocate the pipeline while SANRAL upgrades the N3 freeway.
Umgeni-Uthukela Water has isolated the pipeline for repairs. During this process, there will be reduced flow of potable water to some parts of the City from the DV Harris Water Treatment Plant.
The repairs are expected to be completed by 22 February.
Residents are urged to reduce their consumption to prevent reservoirs from running dry as there will be reduced incoming flow into the system.
