Extensive road rehabilitation works have commenced on the N3 Toll Route and are expected to continue until the end of December 2027, along the section of the N3 Toll Route between the Wilge Toll Plaza near Villiers in the Free State and the Heidelberg South Interchange [R23] in Gauteng.
The works programme requires long-term lane width restrictions in both north- and southbound directions. Only one lane with a width of 3.0 meters will be available in each direction while construction is underway.
In light of the long-term impact of the construction work, combined with the lane width restrictions, N3TC advises abnormal load hauliers applying for exemption permits to avoid the section of the N3 Toll Route between the Villiers Interchange in the Free State and the Heidelberg South Interchange in Gauteng until the construction works are completed.
All motorists, transport operators, and fleet owners are also warned to exercise increased caution in construction zones. Please adhere to warning signs and speed restrictions in these areas.
