The Maalgate Bridge was officially opened this morning by Western Cape Minister of Infrastructure, Tertuis Simmers.
The bridge has been widened, among other things – this is very good news for the farming communities and cyclists who regularly use the road.
This R55 million project was completed after several years by a third contractor, Empa Structures, after the previous contractors were unable to finish construction.
SNA is the consulting engineer for the project.
In addition to the convenience of the completed bridge, a total of 120 jobs were created by the project.
A farmer from the area, André Barnard, thanked all role players for their hard work during the event.
