As traffic officers were in the process of stopping an abnormal load truck, it broke down right in front of them.
What followed exposed a catalogue of serious violations. The truck was travelling without an abnormal load permit and without the required traffic escort. Instead of the mandatory two escort vehicles, there was only one.
To make matters worse, part of the load fell onto the roadway, posing an immediate danger to other motorists.
The vehicle was found to be:
- Exceeding the 2.6m width limit;
- Non-compliant with length requirements;
- Exceeding the 4.3m height limit; and
- Operating without a valid abnormal load permit.
These are reckless decisions that endanger lives. Our message is clear: road safety is not negotiable. Whether it is the safety of schoolchildren or fellow motorists and other road users, the law will be enforced – decisively and without compromise.
Compliance is not optional. Lives depend on it.
