Free State Agriculture (FSA) provided input to a letter handed over to the Department of Roads to address road problems. According to Dr Jack Armour, Operations Manager at FSA, Agri SA met with the National Department of Transport on 26 April 26, 2019, and his organization provided input about the systemic issues to be addressed.
Armour said FSA held a follow-up meeting in its province with the Department of Police, Roads and Transport on 7 May 2019.
“Free State Agriculture realizes the increasing deterioration of our province’s roads following recent good rains across the province,” he said. “The department of roads is starting a new budget year and hopefully there will be renewed action on the roads.”

However, where roads require urgent attention and where the local road office cannot attend to, road users who are willing to do something about it can make arrangements for a collaborative project with the road office. These are called Letsema projects.
