The Waterberg District Commissioner Major General Dikeledi Mangena on behalf of the Provincial Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe has officially handed a new site of Villa Nora SAPS to a contractor who will be erecting a fence at Shongwane village on Wednesday, 03 April 2023.
Major General Mangena was supported by the Lephalale SAPS Station Commander, Colonel Daniel Ramakgoakgoa and Villa Nora Station Commander Captain Selokela.
In attendance were Lephalale Councillors under the leadership of Ward 9 Councillor Alpheus Thulare representing Municipality Mayor Councillor Shongwane, Kgosi Phahladira, Shongwane Chieftaincy and Phadira Mall Manager.
Major General Mangena thanked all stakeholders involved in the project for ensuring that the community of Shongwane and neighbouring villages under the Villa Nora policing area get easy access to the services.
She further outlined that damaging and destroying the property would result in negative consequences and compromise the services to the community.
In addition, Traditional Policing was encouraged for the Chiefs to know what is happening in their villages including the establishment of Street Patrols, Community in Blue and strengthening the Community Policing Forums (CPFs).
Afterwards, Exxaro Representatives, Mr Daniel Modiba and Chokoe announced Antos Civil Company as the contractor nominated for erecting the fence.
Colonel Ramakgoakgoa appreciated the initiative and efforts from the good partnership with all the role players in good spirits.
“The project is still at the first stage and other developments will follow and Captain Selokela will work very hard in ensuring that satisfactory services are rendered to the community,” Colonel Ramakgoakgoa concluded.
