Question:
Does a crane operator need a PRDP (Professional Driving Permit) when moving a crane to new premises? It does not transport anything it just goes to a new location.
All permits etc are in place.
A traffic official fined an operator for not having a valid PRDP.
Answer:
No, a crane operator does not need a PRDP. The vehicle does not fall in the categories of drivers listed in regulation 115 as it is not a goods vehicle.
As they are special classification vehicles, reg 115(2) also exempt drivers of special vehicles from PRDPs/
Make a representation to have the fine withdrawn.
