A 32-year-old man suffered moderate injuries after an embankment collapsed on him at a home on Hercus Avenue in Belvedere, Tongaat today (Tuesday).
Members of Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) 14:12 were called out to the property by the public who were attempting to free the construction worker from the rubble.
On arrival Reaction Officers found the man’s legs trapped under bricks, retaining blocks and sand. With the use of a crowbar, the victim was freed. He suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a Provincial Hospital by ambulance.
It was established that the injured man was privately employed to dig a trench between two properties. While doing so the embankment collapsed.
