The City’s Business Support, Tourism, Markets and Agri-Business Unit has rolled out the INK Construction Incubator to provide technical support to emerging contractors residing within the Inanda, Ntuzuma and KwaMashu regions. The incubator aims to ensure sustainable development for emerging contractors and to help them improve their CIDB grading designations from grades 1 to 5.
Three programmes are offered through the incubator namely, pre-incubation, outreach, and main incubation. Businesses are offered business workshops, technical skills training, mentorship, and other courses that increase their competitiveness and compliance when bidding for work. The incubator has assisted more than 300 contractors since 2014 who have gone on to create 600 jobs and generate a combined revenue of R15 million per year.
The incubator has office space with access to the internet and printing facilities. It is based in Section M-76 Bhungezi Road, KwaMashu.
