Central Military Police Region under the command and leadership of Colonel L.B Mashilo the Regional Provost Marshall in collaboration with BMW Sovereign Motors Bloemfontein took part in the 67 Minutes Nelson Mandela Day in Bloemfontein/Mangaung on 18 July 2023.
All the Military Police units namely Central Military Police Region Head Quarters, Bloemfontein Area Office, Bloemspruit Military Police, and Central Detention Barracks that are situated within Bloemfontein/Mangaung area took part in the event. Members from these units moved out of their respective military bases on a cold day to take part in this noble cause to give back to society.
The activity of the day was to fill/close potholes within the Mangaung Central Business District. Roads are the main veins of every city/town and potholes are posing a severe threat to motorists and substantial impact on the local economy. The significance of the day was for Central Military Police Region members to contribute to the improvement of the road infrastructure within the metro municipality as well as enhancing the free flow of traffic in the area by eradicating potholes which are a challenge to motorists.
Critical junctions around the city’s busiest and biggest Malls and inside Tempe Military Base were identified and filled by Military Police members and BMW staff.
