KwaZulu-Natal MEC for Transport, Community Safety and Liaison, Sipho Hlomuka officially opened the R31.8 million Msunduze River Bridge in Mandeni Local Municipality.
The bridge serves as a link between road P459 from the south and L947 along L3110.
The 65m long bridge provides relief to the community of Mandeni and provides easy access to other important amenities.
The construction of this bridge has reduced travelling distances and provided Sikhonyane and the Nyoni communities with access to Ekuvukeni Primary School and Hlanganani Primary School.
Through this contract companies owned by women, youth, and people with disabilities also benefited from the project and job opportunities were created for locals.
MEC Hlomuka was joined by Ilembe District Municipality speaker, Cllr. Dolly Shandu, Mandeni Local Municipality deputy mayor, Cllr. Magwaza, Local House of Traditional Leadership, Induna uMhlongo, local ward councillors and senior officials.
MEC Hlomuka later engaged the community of Ward 16 inHlanganani Sports Field, Mandeni Local Municipality.
