Today, 29 October, marks yet another powerful milestone in Mossel Bay’s journey toward sustainable infrastructure and energy independence.
In quick succession of the completion of the award-winning solar photovoltaic plant at the Hartenbos regional wastewater works comes the sod-turning ceremony for Phase 2 of the Solar PV and Battery Energy Storage Project at the Great Brak Wastewater Treatment Works – a proud moment for our municipality and community.
Project scope in short
A cutting-edge 2.4 MWp Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Facility and 2.4 MVA Battery Energy Storage System will be constructed on municipal land. This installation will ensure a reliable electricity supply to:
- Great Brak Wastewater Treatment Works
- Klein Brak Water Treatment Works
- Sandhoogte Water Treatment Works
This investment in alternative energy is more than infrastructure – it’s a commitment to climate resilience, service reliability, and responsible innovation.
