Construction work is currently underway on the southbound carriageway (towards Durban) between Balgowan and the Howick/Tweedie Interchanges on the N3 Toll Route, resulting in traffic intermittently being reduced to one lane through the construction zone.
Given the high traffic volumes and mix of vehicles using this busy stretch of the N3 daily, road users should expect congestion and possible delays, especially during peak travel times.
“Please approach the area with increased caution, and follow the sign-posted safety instructions. Adhere to the reduced speed limits, maintain a safe following distance, anticipate sudden stops, and please merge carefully into the designated open lanes, where required. Not only are these precautions for your own safety, but they also protect your fellow road users and vulnerable construction workers, while reducing the risk of collisions or further disruptions,” explains Thania Dhoogra, chief operating officer of N3TC, the company managing the 415km N3 Toll Route between Cedara in KwaZulu-Natal and Heidelberg in Gauteng.
