As South Africans prepare to hit the road for the festive season, Trans African Concessions (TRAC) reminds road users that several major upgrade and rehabilitation projects are currently underway along the N4 Toll Route. These initiatives form part of TRAC’s ongoing commitment to keeping the corridor safe, efficient, and well-maintained.
Several major projects are currently underway along the N4, demonstrating TRAC’s ongoing dedication to providing safer, smoother, and more reliable travel for all road users. Below is an overview of these projects and their progress to date:
Solomon Mahlangu Drive to Bronkhorspruit (N4-1 km 21 to km 25 and N4-2 km 0 to km 30)
Project Details: Rehabilitation of the N4
Commencement Date: October 2025
Expected Completion Date: September 2027
Progress of completion: 6%
Traffic Accommodation: Shoulder and Lane closures to be implemented during construction

Van Dijksdrift Interchange to Wonderfontein (N4-4 km 9 to km 47 and N4-5 km 0 to km 10)

Project Details: Rehabilitation and the construction of a new passing lane of Section 16

Moamba I/C to Tchumene Interchange (EN4-2 km 0 to km 25)
Project Details: The mill and replacement of the N4 MDC section 17

Over the Festive Season, construction will be halted for the annual construction industry holiday, which is in effect from Friday, 12 December 2025, to Wednesday, 7 January 2026. Despite no actual construction taking place during this period, road users are reminded that all sites are still deemed active and traffic-control measures will still be in place in line with road safety measures.
