The Limpopo MEC for Public Works, Roads and Infrastructure, Mr Ernest Rachoene, today conducted an #OperationTsogaMoshomi activation at the Mageva Road Camp Cost Centre in the Mopani District as part of ongoing efforts to monitor employee punctuality and workplace discipline.
Through Operation Tsoga Moshomi, the MEC continues to champion a culture of punctuality, accountability and professionalism within the public service, reinforcing the importance of taking pride in one’s work and upholding the Batho Pele principles.
As part of his service delivery monitoring programme, MEC Rachoene also visited the bridge construction site on Road R529. Although the project is implemented by the South African National Roads Agency SOC Limited (SANRAL), the visit followed reports of traffic congestion experienced by road users as a result of the ongoing construction. The MEC was accompanied by the Mayor of Greater Giyani Local Municipality, Cllr Thandi Zitha and the Mopani District Municipality MMC Cllr Mahumane , as well as representatives from the Dzumeri Traditional Council.
During the visit, the MEC engaged the contractor and emphasised the urgency of completing the project, noting the strategic importance of the road in linking several villages to the towns of Tzaneen and Giyani. He highlighted that the road serves as a critical economic corridor, and that the timely completion of the bridge will improve traffic flow and support local economic activities.
The MEC concluded his service delivery monitoring activities with an interaction with road workers on Road D1350 under the Greater Tzaneen Local Municipality. Demonstrating leadership by example, MEC Rachoene joined the workers on site and actively participated in pothole patching.
