The City of Cape Town’s Economic Growth Directorate invites traders and vendors to apply for bays at the newly-completed Wallacedene Container Market.
Located at the corner of Botfontein and Boesak roads in Wallacedene, Kraaifontein, the new market is planned to be a hive of economic activity.
Vendor applications open today, Thursday, 26 February 2026, and submissions will be accepted up to and including Sunday, 15 March 2026. This is a permanent market facility developed to strengthen the local informal economy and provide a safe, accessible trading space for small businesses that will operate daily from 06:00 to 18:00.

‘The Economic Growth Directorate is dedicated to supporting entrepreneurs and strengthening the informal economy through well-planned and modern trading facilities. The Wallacedene Container Market is another step toward building a thriving, inclusive and sustainable local economy,’ said Alderman James Vos, the City’s Mayoral Committee Member for Economic Growth
The market forms part of the City’s broader investment into modern, well-managed public trading infrastructure. It has been designed to support local enterprise growth by offering purpose-built container trading units, essential services and an inviting public environment. The facility includes container shops of approximately 15m² each, with supporting amenities such as water, electricity and ablution facilities.

Applications are open to Wallacedene-based entrepreneurs, including:
