Rehabilitation work in Schoemanskloof continues to make steady progress, with the project currently at 42% completion. Led by Tau Pele Construction Group, the major rehabilitation and passing lane construction project officially commenced in October 2024 and is anticipated to be completed in October 2027.
Once known to many road users as the “Bambi Road”, this section of the N4 is being upgraded to improve road safety, mobility, and driving conditions for all road users.
Beyond infrastructure improvements, the project is also creating employment opportunities and contributing to local economic growth within surrounding communities.
As part of the vital Maputo Corridor connecting South Africa and Mozambique, these upgrades will further strengthen regional connectivity, tourism, trade, and transport efficiency along one of Southern Africa’s most strategic routes.
Thank you to all road users for their patience and cooperation during ongoing shoulder and lane closures, as well as Stop/Go traffic control measures.
