For some community members, it was a shock and disbelief as they received the keys to their double-story houses in Cato Crest.
The Minister of Human Settlements, Thembi Simelane, and the MEC for Transport and Human Settlements, Siboniso Duma, ensured that 71 community members were relocated from informal settlements to new double-story houses. More than 1200 communities have been moved so far.
Having waited for years, community members were in tears as they received keys to their beautiful houses.
The Speaker of eThekwini Municipality, Cllr Thabani Nyawose and eThekwini councillors were part of this historic moment.
