A construction worker sustained a severe injury after accidentally cutting deep into his calf muscle with an angle grinder while working on a tile roof at Die Wilgers in Pretoria. The patient suffered significant blood loss and became drowsy.
First responders quickly rushed onto the roof, applying immediate bleeding control to save his life.
With incredible teamwork, members of the community assisted in carefully lowering the patient from the roof.
Once on the ground, PVES BLS, ILS, and ECP medics tightly dressed the gaping wound, administered IV medication to support clotting, and provided morphine and Perfalgan for pain management.
A special moment came when Francois, a local scholar eager to help, assisted on scene. Inspired by his commitment, PVES instructor Karien Elkins personally offered to sponsor his upcoming first aid course-good luck next month, Francois!
We extend our gratitude to Emer-G-Med for their swift, professional assistance in ensuring the patient was transported to the hospital with premium care.
A big thank you to the following services on scene
