ALS paramedics are currently on the scene on the R-103 near Lion Park, where a serious collision has occurred. Where a truck carrying building blocks has somehow lost control and ploughed into a tree.
Multiple rescuers are around the cabin, and it is believed that two passengers are severely entrapped in the wreckage. Advanced life support paramedics are with the two, and it is believed that one has sustained fatal injuries. However, this will be confirmed once access to both patients has been gained.
All necessary authorities are in attendance, and traffic is not severely affected at this stage as it’s off the road. The cause of this collision is unknown currently; however, it is expected to be a brake failure.
Once the patients are freed, they’ll be loaded into an awaiting ALS paramedics ambulance and then transported to a nearby hospital for further care that they require. This is on the R103 near the Linfield Park area just outside Pietermaritzburg.
